Wholesale Banking serves businesses ranging from medium to large multinational
corporation, providing clients with a full range of banking services including
Global Trade and Receivables, Global Liquidity and Cash Management, Global
Markets and multi-currency business accounts, as well as a comprehensive range
of financing solution.
We are
currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role
of Vice President Business Development.
Responsibilities:
WSB is
at the heart of Bank’s strategy to be the Leading International Bank. The remit
of this role supports the execution of this strategy and noting that the
business operates in a highly competitive banking environment competing for
international business where we have a “right to win”.
Role
holders support the Head of MME in the development and implementation of a
long-term strategic vision that enables the Wholesale Banking - MME segment to
drive revenue growth covering strategic initiatives, business development
activities and sales effectiveness:
- Strategic Initiatives: In-country
client coverage lead for priority initiatives such as ASEAN, BRI/China
outbound, key corridors, key sectors (i.e. such as EV, Healthcare,
Renewables, New/Digital Economy and other sectors as agreed with Head of
MME and/ Head of WSB), etc.
- Business
Development: In-country lead supporting Head of MME in business growth
activities such as MasterGroup prioritisation (incl. Whitelisting),
product collaboration (incl. trade ecosystem, collaboration with PB, WPB,
Sectors, MMFS, CMBO, etc), sustainable financing, portfolio
rationalization, participation in events & associations to build
network and to help identify and/develop new business sectors (including
but not limited to engage discussion and work on the credit paper with
internal stakeholders – RAU and WCA). In-country lead and advocate for the
application of Business Intelligence platform (such as but not limited to:
Wallet Opportunity Tracker, Client Coverage Corporate Insights, Qlik
Sense, CME, IDX clients, etc) as a key enabler for business development
activities.
- Sales
Effectiveness: In-country lead for initiatives that help professionalise
our approach to client coverage covering areas such as Sales Enablement
(working capital program, AI/Triggers, NTB), Sales Processes (client
planning, calling activities) and Sales Management (pipelines, sales &
portfolio analytics).
Qualifications
To be successful in
this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in
managing corporate banking relationships
- Good understanding of HSBC’s Group structures,
products and services including values, processes and objectives
- Strong understanding of the Wholesale Banking
business, including products, services, systems and processes gained
through experience in front line positions
- Background of having worked successfully within a
frontline/sales role enabling a thorough understanding of the day-to-day
activities conducted by an RM, and the tools / systems / procedures /
processes currently available &/or required for success
- Working with other businesses and functions in a
collaborative manner to ensure the best outcome for the organization and

- Strong analytical background and proven ability
in analytical rigor, including being able to contextualize data into
business activities and conclusions
- Strong relationship management and influencing
skills, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven
ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders to agree
strategic direction and ensure support in execution
- High level of drive and motivation to ensure
successful delivery of complex initiatives
- Ability to think broadly and strategically rather
than focus on short term
- Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
with conflicting and rapidly changing priorities
- Adaptable and flexible, with a self-initiated
approach to change and developing market demands and opportunities
